A cheap and convenient accomodation in Madrid
TOC Hostel is located in Madrid city center, 2 minutes from Puerta del Sol square, and most monuments are within walking distance.
The staff was friendly, but the check-in was a bit slow, because they register your fingerprint for entering your room. Rooms vary from single to eight people each. Generally, every room has two toilettes, showers and sinks, plus a bed and a locker for each person.
In addition, on the second floor, the hostel has a room with frescos on the ceiling where breakfast is served in the morning, which turns into a bar where you can play billiards or enjoy a chat with other people. There is a laundry room on every floor, and a single computer with internet access.
One area of improvement is the fingerprint scanner which did not always work properly and I had to go back to the reception and re-register my fingerprint. Another challenge I had was finding the bed linen placed in the furniture out in the corridor since no one had told me.
However, I highly recommend it because of its location and beautifully refurbished interior with all comforts.
